The art of ripening pears

Fruit picked in a South-West London garden on 6th Oct 2013. Variety: close to a Comice.

These pears are very big, some weighting as much as 400g. They tend to fall before ripening, get bruised, and finish in the bin. By harvesting early, we saved them.
